Last month, we were joined by US Senate Candidate and North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall. One of her two opponents in the race for the US Senate will join us on the next Charlotte Talks – Libertarian Candidate Dr. Mike Beitler from Guilford County. A former banker-turned-teacher-turned-consultant, Dr. Beitler also hosts an internet radio program that focuses on Libertarian issues. We’ll talk with Candidate Beitler about why he decided to run for US Senate, about his take on all the issues, and what he thinks will make him the best choice for US Senator from North Carolina.

United Way of Central Carolinas has had a long line of shake-ups, beginning with the pay and benefits controversy that caused former Executive Director Gloria Pace King to be forced out two years ago. Since then, the agency has been rebuilding itself, making many changes, and trying to rebuild trust with donors in the region. New Executive Director Jane McIntyre will join us to talk about the struggles the organization still has, including year-round campaigning to try and meet tough fundraising goals, new bylaws created because of the pay controversy and we’ll also talk about the recent million-dollar gift by the Levine Foundation.
