January 29, 2010 at 11:19 am | Posted in Coming Up | 1 Comment
When Matthews based physician Will Conner decided to go to Haiti to help in any way he could, he literally answered a prayer. When Charlotte Observer reporter Franco Ordonez decided to tag along, he found out that there was such a thing as hope and joy amidst the ruins of the earthquake ravaged country. Both men share their stories and we hear from a native Haitian who is a local expert on International relations. Join us for a doctor’s journey to Haiti.

Hopefully you got to hear some of the song that Haitian patients were singing while Dr. Conner helped injured earthquake victims. This video was recorded by reporter Franco Ordonez…
Well we got an email that included the lyrics to that song:
“The tune the children were singing in the show this morning is that of a hymn called “No Not One”. I cannot speak for whether they were singing that hymn in their language, but it sounded as though their last repeated phrase may well have been that lyric.
http://library.timelesstruths.org/music/No_Not_One/ you can listen to the tune at this web site from where the following lyrics came.
ed hyland, Charlotte
1. There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one! No, not one!
None else could heal all our soul’s diseases,
No, not one! No, not one!
o Refrain:
Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one! No, not one!
2. No friend like Him is so high and holy,
No, not one! No, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly,
No, not one! No, not one!
3. There’s not an hour that He is not near us,
No, not one! No, not one!
No night so dark but His love can cheer us,
No, not one! No, not one!
4. Did ever saint find this Friend forsake him?
No, not one! No, not one!
Or sinner find that He would not take him?
No, not one! No, not one!
5. Was e’er a gift like the Savior given?
No, not one! No, not one!
Will He refuse us a home in heaven?
No, not one! No, not one!
