I would like to hear more about how Charlotte got it’s name. I understand it is named after Charlotte of Mecklenberg. When did the German influence come in after the original Scot-Irish settled the area?

This information from Bonnie Cone (now deceased) a founder of Charlotte College/UNCC:
Charlotte College (now UNCC) was chartered in 1949, and THAT is where the moniker “49ers” comes from.
NOT Hwy 49
NOT the gold rush
