Keith Parker, the new CEO of CATS joins us on this edition of Charlotte Talks.  Parker inherits the legacy that retired CEO and now head of the trolley operations Ron Tober started in the Lynx Light Rail line.  We’ll talk about the higher than expected ridership of the line, the new lines that are in the works and other transit topics.

  1. In 1987, I wrote an article for Break Magazine, wherein I confronted the issues of the future of rail in Charlotte, and what to do with the old old coliseum, which is now Cricket Arena.

In my model, I had a monorail going above Independence Blvd, with a stop at Cricket Arena. The monorail also radiated from downtown toward Rock Hill, Lake Norman, University City, and the airport.

20 years later it is gratifying to finally see progress. Charlotte needs to learn to manifest visions a little faster.

    Supply books on the buses.

  2. Will CATS be adding more trains along the South Corridor to help alleviate the peak hour jam-packed rail cars?
