See, it pays to be an Average Joe!

February 15, 2008 at 9:20 am | In Behind the Scenes | 2 Comments

Quite literally! We recently got word that two of our Average Joes’ will be reconnecting beginning today. A few months back we hosted an Average Joe who worked in the IT industry, but had just lost his job, just shortly after his wife had given birth to their fifth child. During that show, he met one of the other panelists and this month, that fellow panelist hired him to work at his company! If you were looking for a reason to become an Average Joe Panelist, there it is! Seriously, Charlotte Talks listeners, we are looking for new Average Joe’s for upcoming panels. If you’re interested, email me and tell me a little bit about you- a bio of sorts, your political leanings, topics you’d like to discuss and I’ll get in touch with you.  The email is charlottetalks@wfae.org. I look forward to reading about you!

Mike CollinsWednesday, February 13, is a session of Open Phones on Charlotte Talks with Mike Collins – but we have an assignment for our commenters.  We want to know what you think of the very political year so far.  Has Election Year 2008 been exhilarating for you?  Have you been following the candidates and their messages as they’ve been weeded out primary by primary? Or, are you sick of the talk already?  We want your thoughts about how the candidates are doing, and even your predictions, if you’re brave enough to call the race this far ahead of November.  And, as always, you’re invited to call, email, or blog about any other topic of your choosing.

Northerners vs. Southerners

February 6, 2008 at 5:30 pm | In On Air | 25 Comments

Growing pains are to be expected with the rapid development of our region, but some of that pain is fueling tensions between the Northerners moving here and folks who have lived here most or all their lives.  Monday, February 11, we’ll explore whether that tension is exaggerated or real and what’s behind the perceived decline in Southern hospitality.
What are your experiences?  Have y’all welcomed your new neighbors?  Were you guys greeted warmly when you moved here?  How do you think we all get along?
